The Gimp

The aim in any photo shoot is to, of course, take the perfect picture the first time. One that doesn't need any color corrections, exposure adjustments, cropping, none of that. I'm going to use the excuse that I don't yet know my camera for why my pictures haven't yet reached that ideal. Until I do figure out how to capture that perfect image, some kind of software is required. Increasingly, I'm finding that the GIMP is all I need. This is a free program, that's right free, that does most of what the more expensive (much more expensive) programs can do. And did I mention that it's free?

It's hard to do it right, and will take almost as much practice as capturing the correctly exposed image to begin with. In the long run it makes more sense to focus on the camera rather than the software. Which is why having something like GIMP makes so much sense. So, until I get this whole lighting, focus, depth thing figured out, I get to say things like "I love the gimp."

As a side note, "Pulp Fiction" is the first movie sound track I owned on CD, as opposed to the first movie sound track I owned on tape, which would be "Beaches." Over-the-shoulder-boulder-holder, anyone?

i think your pics always look fantastic. your composition is always at least GOOD, if not GREAT. and i think you can see a huge improvement in the 'technical' points as well. i suppose it helps to have a gorgeous little subject too. :) btw, thanks to you, i *still* have gimp on my computer, lol.

OH, I have GIMP and had no idea I could do those kinds of things...the things you can learn from reading blogs! Love all your pics!

our power went out a day after we left. Let's just say that two weeks without air or refridgeration make a bad combo. Eww....
